Meteora Day Trip
Perched high up on sandstone rock formations, the Meteora Monasteries are spectacular buildings that blend with the natural landscape. Visit them on this excursion from Athens!
Meteora Day Trip
At the indicated time, you'll head to Athens Central Station on your own and take the train to Kalambaka Station, where you'll meet your guide.
Upon arrival in Kalambaka, we'll take a minibus to the stunning Meteora Monasteries. During the trip, the driver will reveal the history of this group of monasteries, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
We'll have approximately 5 hours to visit the Meteora complex. In total, we'll access 3 of these monuments. The complex is made up of a total of 6 priories: the Monastery of St. Nikolaos, the Monastery of the Holy Trinity, the Monastery of St. Stephen, the Monastery of Roussanou, the Monastery of Varlaam, and the Monastery of Great Meteoron. All the cloisters are of medieval origin and are built on various sandstone mounds, which dominate the surrounding landscape.
After the visit, we'll return to Kalambaka, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch at any of the nearby restaurants. Finally, you'll take the train back to Athens after 14 hours of excursion.
