Discover the landmarks in Athens lit up on this night walking tour around Monastiraki Square, one of the most lively and vibrant areas in the city.
Athens Night Tour
The evening tour of Athens will start at 8.30 pm at the iconic Monastiraki Square. Here you'll find two historic temples in the city center: the Orthodox Church of St. Mary Pantanassa and the Tzistarakis Mosque. We'll admire the illumination of these two religious buildings while learning about their history. One of them harbors a terrible curse - let's find out which!
Behind the mosque lie the remains of the ancient library of Hadrian, the second Hispanic emperor in history. Next to this important archaeological site, we'll enjoy beautiful views of the Acropolis of Athens. The illumination of its main monuments (the Parthenon, the Propylaea, and the Erechtheion, among others) allows us to admire these remnants of ancient times in different parts of the Greek capital.
Near the site of the Hadrianic library, we'll find the Cathedral of the Annunciation of St. Mary. This orthodox church is one of the main temples of Plaka, one of the most historic neighborhoods in the old town of Athens. In this area, we'll also notice various signs of the imperial era such as Hadrian's Arch, which dates back to the 2nd century AD.
At 11.30 pm, we'll end our night tour of Athens by returning to Monastiraki Square.
If you want, you can select a tour option with dinner. In this case, after the night walking tour, we'll give you directions to the Meandros restaurant. There, you'll enjoy a meal consisting of an appetizer, Greek salad, and a main course with five varieties of meat and bread.
